Welcome Back!

We are so excited to start our 2017/2018 Prairie Land Regional Division  #25 School Year!! We hope everyone had a fantastic summer and have been settling into the new school year. Welcome back!  For those who are new we are so excited to have you here and to get to know you!

Prairie Land Regional Division has so much to offer students, staff and their families.  Students have opportunities to not only receive a fantastic education, but they learn about the importance of health and mental wellness as well.   Each school has access to Family Resource Program, Project REACH , and a variety of health initiative set up by the Health and Wellness Board.  Our focus on health and mental wellness is driven by research proving children who are healthy physically and mentally will be successful in their educational studies.

What is Project REACH??

The Mental Health Capacity Building (MHCB) in Schools Initiative works to promote positive mental health in children, youth, families and support individuals in the community who interact with children and youth. Project REACH is one of 37 locally planned, coordinated and implemented MHCB programs that operate across the province.

The MHCB initiative is funded by Alberta Health and led by Alberta Health Services (AHS) Provincial Addiction and Mental Health.

Project REACH has key contacts in each of our Prairie Land Regional Division schools:

  • Misty Griffith, Project REACH Coordinator, Key Contact for Berry Creek Community School
  • Katie Suntjens, Key Contact for Delia and Morrin Schools
  • Andrea Olsen, Key Contact for J.C. Charyk School (Elementary)
  • Kris Thulien, Key Contact for Veteran, Consort and Altario Schools
  • Jillian Orum, Key Contact for Youngstown , J.C. Charyk School (Jr./Sr. High) and YogaKids Level 1 Facilitator

We offer a variety of programs throughout the school, classroom, after-school and within each community through partnerships with the school, local community agencies and organizations.  We will keep you informed about upcoming events and programs through the school newsletters, Facebook (REACH), Twitter (@REACHPLRD25) and our website projectreach.ca.

What Embracing Mental Wellness??

Embracing Mental Wellness is our Project REACH newsletter and a section on our website that provides Mental Health Tips and information for parents on specific topics, provides information about community Health and Mental Wellness events, and Project REACH events.  The topics that we address will also be provided in the school newsletters with a link for more information that will direct you to our website.
